Ryan Moore blog ''fast five furlongs will suit Mission Central really well'' Leading jockey Ryan Moore gives an update on his mounts for Day Three of the York Ebor Festival. The World Pool is in operation on all four days of the York meeting. York: Race 2 | G2 Lonsdale Cup I ride ILLINOIS in the Lonsdale Cup. He ran a good race when winning at Royal Ascot and he stays well. He was just beaten in the Great Voltigeur a few years ago, so I think York will suit him. This is a tough race, but he usually gives his best shot. York: Race 3 | G2 Gimcrack Stakes I ride MARCO POLO in the Gimcrack. He ran a very nice race on debut. He’s obviously still a maiden after finishing second at the Curragh. He now steps straight into a Group 2, which looks competitive, but I think he’ll run well. He’s a nice horse. York: Race 4 | G1 Nunthorpe Stakes I ride MISSION CENTRAL in the Nunthorpe. He’s won his first three starts over five furlongs, including the G1 King Charles III Stakes. He has run in the July Cup since then, but that didn’t suit him running over six furlongs up a hill. I think being back at York on a flat, fast five furlongs will suit him really well. He was progressive at the start of the year and seems in good form at home. There’s pace everywhere in the Nunthorpe and he should be there or thereabouts. Bacio is an exciting horse for Wesley Ward, he won at Royal Ascot and did it well. There are horses in here that we have seen plenty of, the likes of Asfoora and American Affair. It looks set to be very competitive. York: Race 5 | 3yo+ Handicap I don't know too much about TYCOON. My son Toby [Moore] rode him last time out over course and distance when he finished second to a runaway winner. He ran well when staying on at Ascot on his penultimate run and hopefully remains handicapped well enough to go close once again. York: Race 6 | 2yo Maiden OKLAHOMA is my ride in the Convivial. He’s a nicely bred son of Wootton Bassett out of Hydrangea, and a full brother to Hawk Mountain. He ran a good race on debut but disappointed the last day at Killarney. That race didn’t suit him in a small field, and this race should be better for him. I’m looking forward to riding him. York: Race 7 | 3yo+ Fillies & Mares 0-100 Handicap It will be the first time I ride LADY DORA MAE. She looks to have been progressing well all season and now races off a career-high mark. The draw looks okay though, so hopefully she can go well.
